Inspirational Heartfelt Hints

Month: January, 2013

Holly & Heather’s Helpful Hints: Celebrate Each Day!

Most of the days of the year are ordinary ones. No special holiday happening. It’s no one’s birthday. Just a regular, every day kind of day. Sometimes those days can feel mundane or exhausting. Just getting out of bed can feel like a chore. But what if you started each day with a celebratory attitude? What if you made some part of every day special in some small way? Instead of just working or cooking or dealing with homework or house chores you took a small bit of time to enjoy something you love? You could have a slice of pie or take a nice walk.  Put some flowers in a vase.  Maybe call a dear friend you haven’t spoken to in a while. Eat dinner off of your fancy plates. Close your eyes for a ten minute nap. Do something to make each day special and give yourself something to look forward to. It will make those ordinary tasks breeze by a bit a lighter and you will have a healthier outlook for it!

Holly & Heather’s Helpful Hint: New Year, New Hope

As January is coming to an end and we have been blogging this month about inspiring ways to start the year fresh, we wanted to remind you (and ourselves) of the importance of keeping your dreams alive. Lots of people make resolutions this month to improve themselves or set new goals and sadly some have already gone by the wayside. Don’t lose hope or ditch that dream just because you may have had a setback. We all slack off from time to time & “give up” a little on our resolutions but that doesn’t have to mean that it’s over for you until next year. Get back up, dust yourself off and try again. Our hopes and dreams are important. They give us something to look forward to and bring joy when they are achieved. Don’t give up!

Holly & Heather’s Helpful Hint: Keep Those Resolutions Going!

In continuing with our “new beginnings” theme for the month of January, and in keeping with a “handbook” we received many years ago for good living, this week we are focusing on inner happiness. Here are a few things to consider:
1. Make time to pray.
2. Don’t take yourself so seriously.
3. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
4. Forgive more and also realize when it is time to shake the dust from your feet and move on.
5. De-clutter your living space to free yourself internally.
6. Do the right thing.
7. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
8. Be kind, love more!
Good luck with your personal resolutions. Let’s all enjoy a brand new year!

Holly & Heather’s Helpful Hint: Here’s to a Healthy Social Life!

As we are trying to approach this new year with a good start, we thought we’d list some healthy ways to make positive changes in your life on the social front.  We offer up some suggestions for you and for ourselves:
1. Call your family & friends often.
2. Don’t gossip.
3. Don’t overextend yourself with socially. Know your limits.
4. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Move on.
5. Agree to disagree, not every argument should be won.
6. If you want to do something, do it. Don’t wait for an invitation that may never come.
7. Surround yourself with people you have fun with and whose company you enjoy.
We hope you keep striving for a great 2013!

Holly & Heather’s Helpful Hint: A Healthy, Fresh Start to the New Year!

In keeping up with last week’s “New Beginnings for 2013” theme, we thought we’d dedicate the month of January to more helpful ways to ring in the new year. These are things we’re working on ourselves too, with a focus on being healthy:
1. Walk or stretch for 10 minutes every day.
2. Drink more water.
3. Eat more vegetables and plant-based foods.
4. De-stress with a hobby you enjoy.
5. Get more sleep.
6. Read more books than you did last year.
7. Sit in silence for a few minutes every day.
8. Hug someone special in your life when you wake up and before you go to bed.
Please share anything you are working on for your good health too!  All the best for a healthy 2013 to you!
