by helpinghandstwins

In the spirit of holiday cookie parties everywhere, in this post we will share our most beloved recipes for this time of year!

Kourabiedes (Greek Powdered Sugar Cookies)
7 cups sifted flour
2 cups butter softened
½ cup sugar
2 egg yolks
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. brandy extract
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. ground cloves
2 cups confectioner’s sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl. Add egg yolks, brandy, flour, baking powder, cloves and vanilla. Combine ingredients with an electric mixer and then work together by hand forming a stiff dough. If the dough seems dry, add a little brandy or water, if too soft, add a little flour.
Shape into small, oval-shaped balls and place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for approximately 20 minutes. When cooled completely, dust cookies generously with powdered sugar. Enjoy!

Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookies

1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour

1 cup regular oats

3/4 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/3 cup melted butter

1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

1 large egg

1/3 cup butterscotch chips

Preheat oven to 350. Combine flour, oats, baking powder, baking soda and salt, stirring with a whisk. In a separate bowl, mix together sugars and butter until well blended.  Add vanilla and egg and mix until blended.  Gradually add in flour mixture, stirring until just combined.  Stir in butterscotch chips.  Drop dough by tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto lightly greased baking sheets.  Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes or until edges of cookies are lightly browned.  Cool on pan for 2 minutes and move to wire racks to finish cooling.  Yum!
