In keeping with our last few weeks of blogging about your well-being in life, friendships, family get-togethers and social outings are to be included for your emotional happiness. Remember, when you are feeling good, you exude a positive attitude in the world that can be contagious. Your interactions can rub off on others, thus encouraging a more helpful, peaceful social circle and community. All great things we need in this world!
So what to do about your social endeavors? Especially during the winter when it seems like everyone wants to hibernate?! We are big believers in planning things you want to do. Take the initiative if you want to do something, otherwise, sitting around and waiting for an invite may never come. Some suggestions and things we have done recently:
Pizza and a movie with a great group of friends – simple and a great way to catch up with your social circle.
One night away with family – we split the cost of a couple of rooms, had a great meal and did some shopping. A short but great time to get out of the house for a change of scenery and spend time with your loved ones.
Meet for lunch – one on one time with a friend or co-worker is a great way to stay connected.
Plan a night with your significant other and another couple or two – go bowling or out to a fancy restaurant, see a comedian (something we love to do).
You don’t have to have a million friends or a giant family gathering to connect socially. And it doesn’t have to be an every week kind of thing. The point is to keep up whatever relationships you have in your life that are emotionally fulfilling (we all have different relationships for different needs) and to give yourself some happiness!
