Holly & Heather’s Helpful Hint: Learning Anew
This week marked the start of a new school year for us. The kids are beginning classes with new subjects to study and learn about, and we thought, so what about us? Instead of going back to the same old routine (which does have to happen to a large degree because we have to work, clean & cook!) why not try to learn something new too? Whether you want to take a lot of classes to change or further your career or only have time for one course, it’s a great way to broaden your horizons. Here are a few things to try:
- Our libraries offer many cultural experiences from trips to museums to lunch and learn programs (usually free at the library) featuring a variety of subjects. They range from health and wellness lectures on nutrition to financial planning seminars.
- Join a book club or pick up a new read on your own. Non-fiction reading is especially educational as are self improvement books.
- Try a new form of exercise. If you always walk, try a bicycle. Or if you’re into yoga, learn tai chi.
- Take a class in adult continuing education. So many great subjects abound from cooking to languages and photography.
Have fun exploring and learning something new. Good for the mind and the soul!
