Holly & Heather’s Helpful Hint: The Farm Shares Continue!
So our “adventures in farm shares” are in full swing! Last blog, we mentioned “garlic scapes”. These grow naturally on garlic bulbs but are typically cut off and discarded before you buy them in the store. But not in a farm share! One is pictured above. We treated them like chives, chopped them up into small pieces and sauteed along with other veggies and olive oil. Here they are as a side dish – garlic scapes and broccoli rabe – that Holly made:

When chopping, discard the little “bulb” part of the scape. The only downside with the garlic scapes is that there were so many of them in the share for the week. Most of them are still sitting in the fridge waiting to be used but will need to be discarded in another week if they are not. By the way, the broccoli rabe and the roasted turnips, kohlrabi and zucchini you see in the pictures were also in the farm share this week. Delish!
